The ZOLL PLUS AED is designed to provide complete first aid steps following the guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA), including: assessing responsiveness, calling for help, checking the airway, performing chest compressions, and rescue breathing (CPR) for the victim.
Additionally, these instructions are presented through two simultaneous channels: visual and voice guidance. The visual guidance is displayed through illustrations and an LCD screen on the device, allowing even those with hearing impairments to follow along.
3.2. Integrated Chest Compression Location Marker on the Electrode Pads:
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) – chest compressions and rescue breathing – is a crucial action in providing first aid to a cardiac arrest victim. This action helps deliver blood and oxygen to the vital organs of the body. Performing CPR immediately significantly increases the victim's chance of survival, with each minute of delay reducing the survival rate by 7% to 10%.
To optimize the waiting time for the victim before CPR is administered, the ZOLL PLUS AED integrates a chest compression location marker along with two electrode pads. By simply placing the electrode pads in the correct position as directed, you will already have the correct spot for chest compressions, without the need to waste time determining the location on the victim’s body.
3.3. Feedback Sensor for Chest Compression Rate and Force:
CPR is an immediate action, but if performed incorrectly, it will not be effective. Effective CPR is performed with a chest compression rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute and a chest compression depth of 5 to 6 cm. If you have never performed CPR or if you are in a state of panic, the likelihood of performing it incorrectly is very high.
The ZOLL PLUS AED integrates a sensor that detects the rate and force of chest compressions on the chest compression location marker. This sensor provides feedback to the first responder through the LCD screen on the device. The feedback messages displayed could be: Good compressions or Push harder.
